Heard of KEXP? Heard of The Roadhouse on KEXP?
One of the greatest shows on one of the greatest radio stations on the planet.
I heard that if you tune in around 8pm tonight you might hear some Sumner Brothers.
Also heard that if you tune in next week, you might hear some Sumner Brothers live in Studio.
Folks, it is with great sadness and heavy heavy hearts that we receive and pass on to you, the news of the passing of the Legendary Canadian Icon, Stompin' Tom Connors.
Stompin' Tom has been one of our greatest influences and inspirations. We were raised on this man's music, maybe more so than any other.
Tom passed away yesterday at the age of 77.
He wanted to pass along these words:
"Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom."
"It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with it's beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."
"I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future."
"I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done."
This is a fabulous full concert at Toronto's legendary Horse Shoe Tavern, 1974.
Spend some time with it folks.

Big Thanks to Rex Manning Day Music Blog for naming 'Toughest Man In Prison Camp' one of the best songs of 2012.
They had this to say about the tune: "I’m pretty sure it’s been scientifically proven that just listening to this song will make you more badass" hell yes.
Toughest Man In Prison Camp

The Sumner Brothers will be performing an acoustic set at The Sunnybrae Coffee house in the beautiful Shushwap. The show is this Saturday, January 12.
Just like this guy used to do, only not in NYC, in Salmon Arm.
A very happy New Year to all you fine folks out there. We are very excited to announce that The Vancouver Sun has included our new record, 'I'LL BE THERE TOMORROW' in their 'Lost Gems of 2012: 10 overlooked albums worth a listen'

The last week and a bit has been an incredible amount of fun. We were invited to play a really special night in Seattle at The Columbia City Theatre. The evening was put on by Greg Vandy (The Roadhouse on KEXP), Devon Leger (Hearth Music) and Levi Fuller (Ball of Wax) and was a tribute to the incredible Harry Smith and The Anthology of American Folk Music. We got to hear and hang out with the great Baby Gramps.
We then came straight home, got a few hours sleep and headed down to set up for our Sumner Brothers Christmas VII. We've got a ton of pictures from the drunk Santa booth and from the show, sit yourself down in your comfy chair with your rum and eggnog and have a look.
A very Merry Christmas to you all.
